What is Scam Guard?

Scam Guard is an extra security feature that helps identify and block unwanted or fraudulent calls before they even bother you.

It’s available for plans that include minutes and costs $2 per billing cycle. Once you’ve added Scam Guard to your account, you can choose between two levels of protection:

Level 1: Scam Alert (Default)

This is the "heads-up" mode. It doesn't block calls, but it gives you the information you need to decide whether to answer.
  • What you see: Potential scam calls are flagged as "Scam Likely" on your screen.
  • Verified Calls: On eligible devices, legitimate numbers will appear as "Number Verified," so you know it’s safe to pick up.
Level 2: Scam Stop

This is the "don't bother me" mode. It’s a much more aggressive filter for a quieter phone.
  • What happens: Our network automatically blocks suspected scam calls before your phone even rings.
  • The result: You won't see a notification, and these calls won't even appear in your call logs.
Next Steps
  • Activate Scam Guard: Log in to your Tello account, go to My Settings, and look for the Scam Guard option.

  • Choose your level: Once purchased, Scam Guard defaults to the Scam Alert setting upon purchase. You can easily manage your Scam Guard level anytime from My Settings.
Pro-Tip
If you're expecting an important call from a number you don't recognize (like a doctor's office or a delivery service), we recommend switching to Scam Alert. Scam Stop is great, but because it blocks calls entirely, there's a small chance a legitimate business call could be filtered out.

⚠️ Warning
Scammers change their numbers constantly. While Scam Guard updates its defenses every 6 minutes, no system is 100% perfect. If a suspicious call still gets through, just hang up and do not provide any personal information.
