How can I track my hotspot usage?
It is possible to keep track of your hotspot data usage, and most updated phones do it automatically. Here is how to check your settings to use this option.
For iPhone users - if your iPhone is running iOS 26 or later, this tracking feature is already built-in by default.
If you don't see it, you just need to manually tweak your settings:
For Android users - to get this feature automatically, your Android phone needs to be capable of installing the latest monthly maintenance updates.
If your phone is updated but you still can't see your hotspot usage, you can set it up manually:

When you are roaming, your hotspot data is usually tracked separately. However, if the roaming network doesn't support separate tracking, don't worry, any hotspot data you use will simply count toward your main data allowance instead.
For iPhone users - if your iPhone is running iOS 26 or later, this tracking feature is already built-in by default.

- Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network.
- Look for the APN section.
- Type in hotspot as your new APN.

If your phone is updated but you still can't see your hotspot usage, you can set it up manually:
- Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Network > Access Point Names.
- Tap Add New APN (or the + sign).
- Tap Name and enter the details below.
- Enter these exact values, then hit Save:
- Name: hotspot
- APN: hotspot
- APN type: dun
- APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
- APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
