What should I do if I get an "eSIM cannot be added" or "Unsupported eSIM" error?

If your phone displays "eSIM cannot be added" or "Unsupported eSIM" your phone is either restricted by another carrier or does not have eSIM hardware.

How to fix it:
  1. Check for a Carrier Lock: Ensure your phone is completely unlocked. If your device is still locked to your previous provider, they must unlock it on their end before a Tello eSIM can be successfully added.
  2. Verify Device esIM Compatibility: Double-check your device manufacturer's specifications or use the Compatibility Tool on the Tello website to confirm your exact phone model officially supports eSIM technology.

⚠️ Important: iPhones manufactured for Mainland China and Google Pixel 3 and 3a models, do not support the Tello eSIM.
If you have one of these devices, you can use a Tello Physical SIM card instead!
